Purpose of life

Purpose of life!!! Couldn't figure it out.. learn, work, marry, procreate, die.. is that all to it. Didn't mean to start my blogging with a serious topic, but could find anything else to think about. I googled 'purpose of life' and all the links that came up are religious sites. No offense to religious people, but thats not what I was looking for.

I like to think life is beautiful. But is it really true. Whats the beauty in life is we are all surrounded by war, hurricane ,tsunami and earthquake......

If any one has figured out the purpose of life, let me know whats it all about.

"Purpose of life"... it's all about deeply meditating - lying flat on your bed and looking at the ceiling for hours together, typically in a holiday afternoon after a heavy meal! Try it out when you get time... ;-)

dd,very Funny!!! I like what you said in your email. I look inside me for answer not a google search !!

I'll try it. But if I came too philosophical, I am holding you responsible :)

Who said I was talking any philosophy? It's all science of self management ;-)

I have thought about it a million times too...

For a traveller, destination is just a reason, it is the journey which matters. Guess life is like that - no real purpose to live, but just live through it and make best use of it.

Do you think a life with everything good in it would be beautiful?

Too much of philosophy! :)

hi vj, I like your comparison of life to a journey.

so if its the journey that counts. How shall we make it worthwhile. If the journey is always safe and comfortable, its a bore. If its a bumpy ride from start to finish, its a nightmare.

We have to find a middle ground. Life should be happy also sad, a success sprinkled with failures and disgusts. Only then life will be beautiful.

dd, is there any good book on the science of self management?

a book on science of self mgmt... hmm, I'vnt written one yet! ;-)
okie, jokes apart, when you go on a trip, how will you make sure you'll have a good time? Bad weather might ruin your plans or if you havnt planned at all, you may land up in all surprises... so plan watever is possible by you and expect the best of the rest; thats it! But when you've started the trip, just enjoy it every moment and not worry about ifs and buts.
Now, whats your next post about? Journey means you got to be moving, rite? :-)

Hi CK,
I second Gandhe's (VJ's) comments...

You really do not have to do anything to make it worthwhile in the journey...
Just being in the journey and doing what you feel best is what matters...

If you are bored during the journey, you cannot change the people in the journey but you can change the habits and things you do with the people who travel with you in the journey.

Perhaps in the next station you can change the train or expect new passengers...

Life is all about dreaming about the future and coping with the present..

Having fun in the journey (PRESENT), rewarding yourself for reaching the next station(plans for future which you have achieved now - present and which would eventually become your PAST) and focussing on the next station you want to reach and the kind of path you prefer to take (FUTURE) - This is what I believe the journey of life is all about.

I love it!!! It makes perfect sense. Actually I did that today!! I got stuck in a Aweful traffic Jam for an hour today on my way to office, I coped with the traffic day dreaming about my future.

Skey, i don't if thats what you meant when you posted your comment, but it worked for me.

The purpose of life in my view is not just that. You try to make this a better world for everyone around you while enjoying it. You being you and not trying to be what everyone wants you to be.

The natural and man made disasters can also be seen for the numerous acts of kindness from people and
communities coming together in unprecedented levels. Imagine even in India there were numerous people that opened their wallets for the recovery efforts. This
builds a lot of character.

Hence the purpose of life is not just going thru the motions of it but creating an identity for yourself by your actions and deeds. Live life to the fullest
while having fun and never ever forget to smile and give one to someone that doesn't have one.

Just my humble thoughts. It may be a case of the blind leading the blind.
