Gym Tales - update

I had a busy weekend visiting D.C. Still continuing my (mis?)adventures in the Gym,because of which my GMAT preparation is suffering. Today is a day off from Gym, so hopefully I will drag my butt to the Barnes & Nobles book store and do some reading. There has been some gain for the pain. Now I weigh 2 pounds heavier than the beginning of March. The 6 months - 10 pounds goal seems to be on track.

I am not very successful in formulating a good diet schedule. At least I am keeping track of my protein intake. Here is the split.

Breakfast :
4 raw eggs(1 whole and 1 egg whites. You don't want to gulp down too much yolk since its has lot of cholesterol). 20 gms of protein.
1-1.5 cups of oatmeal cooked in 1 cup of milk - 15-20 gms of protein.

Snack 1:
a handful of roasted assorted nuts. 7-10 gms of protein.

Lunch:
Turkey or Chicken sandwich usually from Subway. 40-45 grams of protein.

snack 2:
An apple or banana or both. Not significant source of protein, but I think it should have some other good stuff.

Snack 3:
Protein shake(2 scoops of whey protein in 1 cup of milk). 45 grams of protein.

Dinner:
Turkey or Chicken sandwich. 20-25 grams of protein.

The total comes to 150 grams of protein a day approximately. I am getting tired of eating these sandwiches day-in day-out. There must be some simple stuff I can make fast which is high in protein. I am going to look for a recipe book.

Hey CK, I'm in the same boat as you....trying to increase my weight. Your gym articles are quite interesting. Any protein diet recommended for veggies like me? :-)

@anu, Protein diets are for muscle building and won't work unless you work out. If you want to put on weight add more calories to your diet, meaning eat more. I should say eat more healthy. Increase your carbohydrate intake like more rice, white bread, pasta etc., Also make sure you eat good fat like peanuts, cashews, peanut butter, olive oil etc., Gaining weigh is a simple math. If you eat more calories than you spend you will put on weight. good luck! but do watch out since its easy to put on weight but hard to lose it.

@Vj, its not that hard to digest proteins if you eat them in small portions multiple times in a day. Do stuff your self with all the protein in one meal.
