Life's passion

When I was filling my profile in orkut, I came across the column 'Passions'. Its stumped me for a while. What would I write for it. I thought for a while and tried to come up with answers like,

Reading -- that's not true I started reading only recently and don't even do it very often.
Sports -- that would be the most atrocious lie I can say.
Travelling -- Gosh! no! I am a home bird, I would rather go and spend a weekend in Cleveland(my aunt's place) than, well anything else.
Work -- lets not even go there.
Nature -- well! who doesn't like nature.

Isn't it sad? I am a guy with no passions. Then I started going to the Gym...

Warning: The following part contains sprinkles of boasting. Not appropriate for people who can't handle someone go gaa! gaa! about themselves.

Initially it was just a time killer, a rather painful one. Just go, spend some time and see how its feel like. It was interesting to see the minuscule weights I struggle to put back in the rack after fiddling it with what supposed to be a set of repetitions. Then the weights didn't remain miniscule for long. It became bigger and bigger(well no need for two bigger's but it just sounds cool). So my point is, I started getting better every week. I will just put a weight that I haven't tried before, on the bench press barbell and try lift it. Mostly I will fail. I will push! push!, mmhum! Nope! It wouldn't budge. Then I will try it next week and the week after till I lift it. It became kind of a quest and its a very good feeling at the end of it. When I get home, my entire body will ache like I have hung a dumbell in every cell of my body, but when I get up the next day and see myself in the mirror, the size and definition in my arms, it's all worth it.

Well! it may too early to say weight lifting (read body building) is my passion. But its the most intense thing I have done that's enjoyable too. So I am just keeping my fingers crossed and taking it one session at a time.

@kandykane, Thanks for stopping by. Well, some short term goals like a dress you will look good in minus few pounds or an upcoming friend's wedding will give you enough motivation. The trick that worked out for me is, I will treat myself like a milkshake or a hot shower after workout. Try it and Good luck.

@vj, Don't do it everyday buddy, do it 3 times a week and that's the max. Plus think of all the pretty girls in your univ, that will be a definite motivation
